Easy Exercises to do at Home

Exercises to do at Home

Finding the time to exercise can be a challenge in today’s world, whether you are an office worker, full time parent or simply unable find a gap as you go about your day. Luckily for us, there’s no need to join a gym, or even step out of the front door to stay in shape. There are a great number of easy exercises to do at home, ranging from small changes in our daily routine to full out workouts in front of the TV.

Steps to Success

Who needs fancy gym equipment when you have stairs! Warm yourself up by walking in place for a few minutes and once you feel ready, go onto the first step, and then backwards again, raising your knees higher than usual. Repeat this for as long as you like and start adding steps to the routine until you’re covering the entire set. If you don’t have stairs or are worried about tripping over, you can buy an inexpensive purpose-designed exercise step to exercise on the spot!

Simple Weights

Weights aren’t just for bodybuilders; in fact, lots of repetitions with low weights can be great exercise and can really contribute towards toning up without turning you into The Hulk. Small sets of weights don’t cost too much at all and there plenty of videos available online that show beginners exactly what to do. Stick on your favourite TV show and get lifting!

Get out in the garden!

If your home has a garden, this is a great way to get some decent exercise and improve your garden at the same time. Mowing, weeding and planting all get your body moving and your heart pumping, not to mention being therapeutic at the same time.

Exercise Videos and games

Exercise videos are as popular as ever because they let you get a good workout in the comfort of your living room (although you might want to draw the curtains). There are a whole range of workout DVD’s out there covering all kinds of different exercises ranging from frantic Zumba dancing and step aerobics trough to cardio kickboxing (don’t stand too close to the TV!). Some people like to use games consoles such as Wii’s which come with fun games and activities that measure your performance as you follow on-screen dance moves.

The above are just a few of the possible exercises you can do at home: there are squats, press-ups, crunches and all kinds simple equipment to try out. If you have and tried and tested home exercises that you know are brilliant, get in touch and let us know!
